Lois Adland had a farm in Garden Grove. She raised martha and Warren. The two children didn't attend school and were home-schooled by Lois. Martha said (in phone conversation with Sooney), "She (Lois) pulled George through tough times." George died in 1943 at age 57. he had gangreen that was misdiagnosed. Lois died in 1959 after long illness under Martha's care.
