CHILBERG FAMILY: Hilda (spouse of Walter Stahl Hoster)

Walter Stahl Hoster worked with his father on the Nester farm and soon had a wife and a farm of his own near Wimbledon. He married Hilda Chilberg in Valley City in 1898. They lived on a farm near Dazey, ND..They farmed until 1905 when they moved to Jamestown, ND, and Walter started work with the Northern Pacific Railroad. In 1915 the family moved back to Valley City. He continued with the railroad until he retired in 1942. He died in the Northern Pacific Hospital in St.Paul in 1957.

Hilda and Walter had five children:
Dorothy (Mrs. Adrian Pfusch),
Walter Stahl Hoster, Jr.,
George W. Hoster, II,
Donald Kenneth Hoster II, and
John Gay who died from inflammatory rheumatism at age eleven.

3/24/2010 Notes: listed in 1910 US census as being born in Iowa. 30 years old in 1910 census.

Education & Residences:
Graduated from Dixon Military Academy and attended Univ. of Minn for one year. While attending U of Minn, he lived in the home of aunt Mary Stahl (aunt) who was a teacher in the old Jefferson School in Minneapolis (for 20 years) - This was "Dear Aunt Mame" who was Walter's mother's sister whose grandfather loaned George Washington money during the days of the Revolution - Their grandparents emigrated from Holland.

Farmed thru 1905 then worked Northern Pacific RR where they lived in Jamestown, ND. In 1915, the family moved back to Valley City, where he continued to work with the Northern Pacific RR until he retired in 1942. He died in the NP hospital in St. Paul, MN, in 1957.

Listed in 1880 census as grandson (age 2) living with Elizabeth Stahl (I'm guessing Elizabeth Bachman's married name) in Lockport, Niagra, NY
