Note
I have a lot more of my grandmother Charlotte's reminiscences about Mary, Christine and Kate as she lived with them at various times in her life both in Minneapolis and in Glendale, California, and about their children and families. She dearly loved the Stahl aunts who were very much in her life even after her father John William died.

Genealogical notes and chard by this woman written for her grand-daughter Cynthia Swan.19
My mother and her [step]father George Tannen rented the home Mary Stahl built in Eagle rock for about two years. My mother was very ill at the time and Mary Edwards was a paid nurse - In fact we had two nurses at the time one night nurse and one day nurse. Later we moved to Glendale Cal. as aunt "Mamie" needed her home. I went to High school in this small Town of Glendale Cal. which was located at the foot of the San San Ferdugo (?) mountains - It was very beautiful and we all enjoyed the stay there. I made fine friends but the strain of my mother's illness was great. We returned to Montana - It was in that year I was sent to "Milwaukee Dranner(?)" and my mother was taken to Baltimore to "John Hopkins" hospital and spent six months there. The doctor was well known - a nerve specialists but could do little for her as there were no drugs at the time. John ? went to the University ? a home in Mpls (Minneapolis) - the maid went with ? and with a companion for my mother We lived there for nine months of my first year in college. Later we rented an apartment 1920 Emerson Ave. So. which we lived in for two years. The years of the Flu Epidemic. I left the University as it did not open until January because of the great sickness & entered a excellent Library course at the main library which Pres. Graspoin (?) Countryman the librarian head had developed. It was a marvelous course and all the prominent educators of the city were enrolled later was moved to the University and Miss Tuna Hutchinson still remained as head of the dept. She was great teacher.19
