CHILBERG FAMILY: Hilda (spouse of Walter Stahl Hoster)
By Donna Nix

Walter Stahl Hoster worked with his father on the Nester farm and soon had a wife and a farm of his own near Wimbledon. He married Hilda Chilberg in Valley City in 1898. They lived on a farm near Dazey, ND..They farmed until 1905 when they moved to Jamestown, ND, and Walter started work with the Northern Pacific Railroad. In 1915 the family moved back to Valley City. He continued with the railroad until he retired in 1942. He died in the Northern Pacific Hospital in St.Paul in 1957.

Hilda and Walter had five children:
Dorothy (Mrs. Adrian Pfusch),
Walter Stahl Hoster, Jr.,
George W. Hoster, II,
Donald Kenneth Hoster II, and
John Gay who died from inflammatory rheumatism at age eleven.

1900 US Census: partially destroyed; shows Hilda Hoster, wife of Walter Hoster (who is listed as being born in Iowa, not New York as thought).

Also listed in Walter Hoster "household" is Edith Chilberg, visitor.
