Note
Chris Richards Found (John) William Stahl on Google. A genealogy report created by Paul A. Reese, in the family of Elizabeth Reese, (alleged) mother of Christina Stahl. Also listed are all the brother & sisters of Christine (a) Stahl as listed under Charles W Stahl (currently). In our current records, Elizabeth Bachman is mother of Christina Stahl Hoster, but that name may follow her Reese name. Birth information does not agree with current dates . Listed is (John) W Stahl: b. c. 1830 Pennsylvania, d. c. 1880. Elizabeth Reese b 17 Oct. 1813 (Macungie, PA), d. 1889.

Paul Reese Notes < http://genforum.genealogy.com/cgi-bin/pageload.cgi?stahl::ny/niagara::318.html >Results of a few house census searching.

The number after each name is age followed by sex. The 3600 and 500 following for William Stahl is the value of real estate and personal property respectively. The location at the end of each line is the place of birth. I have placed my comments in square brackets. []

My uncle believes that the Stahl's and Reeses knew each other in Mecungie Pa. then both families moved to Niagara county. He believes the Reese family moved in 1831 when Elizabeth Reese Stahl was 17 years old. If Margaret Stahl is the oldest Stahl child ,William Stahl and Elizabeth Reese were perhaps married in 1832 or 1833 shortly after arriving in Niagara County. I am assuming that Williams may have been John W. Stahl.

1860 Census Town of Lockport, Niagara County. pg 230 Line 1857 (1867)
William Stahl 57 M Farmer 3600 500 Penn
Elizabeth 46 F Penn [in my family records, Elizabeth Reese b. Mecungie, Pa, 10-17-1883]
Margaret 26 F NY
Kati 23 F NY
Elizabeth 21 F
Salome 18 M [ the census definitely has an M but not sure of name but it looks like Solome.]
Mary 15 F
William 13 M
Christina 11 F
George 8 M
John 86 M retired farmer Penn [this would be Williams's father I assume.]
William H. 32 M farm laborer NY [This man is too old to be Elizabeth's son. Is he a son of William by an earlier marriage, a nephew of William? or what. My family records mention William Henry Stahl (Capt. in Union Army d. 9-15-1863). This certainly sounds like him. In any case he is listed as living in the household of William Stahl.]

There's a Charles W Stahl 1836 Civil War Vet died Methodist Cemetery 1874 (fits)

Minnesota State Census, 1895

Consider this:
Bachman/Stahl marriage resulted in Christina marrying Hoster, and possibly Catherine/Cathryn/Kate marrying Ingalls (resulting in 2 children) who end up living with Mama Stahl in 1880 Census with everyone else.

Also in household:
George W Hoster (1860 - NY) (is this GW Stahl also listed in Minn. St. Census 1895)
Donald K Hoster (1888 - Minn)

A Charles W Stahl served a short while in the Union Army during the Civil War.
His wife "Elizabeth widow of Stahl, Charles W" survived him, and might possibly be Elizabeth (Bachman?) Stahl listed in 1870 (with Wm. Stahl) and 1880 (without him).
