Bernice Chilberg worked at the telephone office in Jamestown, ND, and lived with Hosters. She was very fond of Dorothy and sent gifts to her after she left North Dakota. These gifts included, necklaces, crystal beads, an ostrich fan, dresses, a seed pearl necklace, amber on a chain, and a gray satin dress. Bernice married Billy Friend. He was a radio operator on a battleship in WWI. They lived in New York City. They didn't get along and were separated but not divorced. Bernice was a Christian Science nurse and had been in Science for many years before she died in Florida, in 1933, of a fistula.
